CUSTO BARCELONA
Custo Barcelona are known for their distinctive, original and daring style through the use of pioneering fabrics and print techniques. Custo offer a full fashion line, from men’s and women’s collections to children’s collections and accessories. The brand is perceived as a high-end fashion label and now has some 3000 points of sale worldwide. Worn by Bridget Fonda in Quentin Tarrantino's Jackie Brown, the Custo signature West Coast inspired vibrancy continues to run through the core of their work.
Sailors, Mermaids, Guitars & Leopards:
FREE SPIRIT THEMES
I chose around a dozen themes which would recur in my work for Custo. All themes embodied the idea of free-spirited expression in the form of characters and slogans. Outsiders, romantics, mythical creatures, travelers, artists & wild animals would appear in each new seasons collection.
As well as illustrating for apparel I was also producing artwork and design for trade show hoardings, invites, labels, bags, merchandise, and homeware. I was also asked to cutomise an airbus A320 and a catamaran.
MTV, Vueling & Custo
AIRBUS COLLABORATION
Custo partnered with MTV and airline Vueling in a co-branding project that saw the customizing of an Airbus A320. I was asked by Custo to produce the artwork on a 48 hour turnaround, which as well as the two sided aeroplane decals included artwork for menus, headrests, and a pair of limited edition trainers. The airbus flew the European skies for an entire Summer.
SUKI & Custo Growing KIDS LINE
After working on several seasons for the Women's & Men's lines I was asked to work on the development of a new kid's line, for which my SUKI character would be the figurehead.
For the launch of the new line I worked with the Milan animation studio MUTADO to create 'Keep On Growing', An animated short I wrote, directed and designed.
